A retrospective of
the works of Jim costello
Burwell-Morgan Mill, Millwood, Virginia
June 6 – June 14, 2015
Rarely is a space as perfectly suited to works of art, or works of art as perfectly suited to a space, than the Burwell-Morgan Mill and Jim’s paintings. It seemed that the Mill and Jim’s work were made for one another. We were able to hang 20 large paintings and about a dozen smaller works and drawings on both levels of the Mill. Tim Maloney beautifully lit each painting according to its pallet and placement, so that the luminescent quality of Jim’s art was shown to its best advantage. The effect was stunning and enthusiastically received by the nearly two hundred guests who attended the opening as well as by the dozens of other visitors who came during the week of the show.
We are happy to say that Jim’s retrospective was a rousing success in every way, and that so many paintings were sold. We also wish to thank the many people who volunteered their time and effort to make it so.
